Kaleidoscope for baby

Here's my latest baby quilt.
I take a quilting class at the local adult school and
this is our latest project/pattern.
I take the class to keep my quilting skills SHARP!!

Let me tell you...
this kaleidoscope pattern quilt was a DOOZY!!!
Oh my goodness!
All those triangles...
All those points to match!!....
All those blocks to square up.....
(don't look too close!  LOL)

It is NOT a quilt pattern for the faint hearted.
;)
I think foundation piecing would make it easier...
(for me)
BUT...
It's done now!!!
Yippee!

I was able to use some fun fabrics on the back.
The cute zebra print came from a pillowcase found at the thrift store!!!

I know.
Crazy luck!

And...
a striped binding is ALWAYS a great thing!!!
My striped fabric stash RARELY lets me down.

So...
I've practiced my precision piecing.
ON to LOOSEY goosey improv!!!!
AND maybe some...
SCrappy HAPPY strips!!!

Happy quilting friends!

Friday

Yeah!
Quilt for Granddaughter is finally complete!
 Vacations, wedding stuff, family stuff
ALL got in the way as this one sat folded up
WAITING to be quilted.....

and BOUND.

I used some gingham for the binding.
LOVE that piece of fabric!
I'll be sad when the LAST of it is used up!

Now my granddaughter can be
COVERED UP
in her new BIG girl bed!!!

I've also been knitting rows
on this baby afghan.

This is the kind of thing that TRAVELS!!
Gotta LOVE handwork!

One of these days....cough cough sputter sputter....
it'll be done too!

*****************
thoughts on how to GET things done!
*****************
I was asked about how I get so much done
and WHEN do I find the time??

I FIT it in.
I give myself DEADLINES.
I give myself GOALS.
I don't watch Television.
I DO knit in the evenings (recently)
and solve crime with netflix.  ;)
I can usually solve the mystery in about 45 minutes.
LOL!
I have 2 children with special needs.
I take handwork to every Doctor appt.
I'm home more than most, I think.
I don't do as much housecleaning as I should.
Making stuff is IN ME!
I have to MAKE.
BLOGGING about what I MAKE
adds to the PLEASURE!
It adds a FRIENDLY aspect!
Thanks for being my friend here.

What's up on Monday?

Piecing a quilt backing.

Found a small fat quarter with DOGS to add!!!
The perfect touch for this new mom's baby quilt.
She ADORES dogs.
;)

Sandwiching the quilt.

Looking for white thread as I listen to PANDORA.
I love listening to music as I sew!!!
What's your favorite station???

Look at all that thread!!!!!
Think I have enough?
That's just the TIP of the iceberg!
LOL!

Beginning to swirl!

Deciding which chocolate to eat FIRST!!!!
("Thank you" goes to whoever it is
that invented MOTHER's day!!!)

The other side

Sometimes....
The backing is my favorite PART!

I love the way my leftover 2 1/2" strips and pieces
look on the backing of this baby quilt.

Planning is not my strong suit.
Thankfully MY kind of quilts don't usually require
a plan!!!

It's always fun to see what happens!

These leftover strips made me VERY happy
Pieced in the back the way they are!

They're What I call
a SIMPLE pleasure!!!
;)

The binding is fun too!

O.K.
This one is bound and given.
It's Monday....
What project should I pull out and work on.....
or BEGIN today???
Hmmm......

I DO love beginnings....
but KNOW that I have some "beginnings"
that haven't ENDED yet!!!
I should REALLY work on one of those!!!
right??
Right.

Wednesday

No sewing today.
;(
I was way too busy to stitch even ONE seam!!!!....
No worries!!!
There's always time for fabric acquisition.
;)

I stopped off here between errands.
Buying fabric is KIND of like sewing...
Isn't it???

I WAS looking for some USEFUL fabric....
Thinking I'd get some GRAY for the backing of
my newest project.

I looked at all of these....
then decided to get the one on the left.

PLUS....
A BUNCH more I didn't need!
NO worries....
They were ALL on sale.
;)
EXCEPT the one I "needed"...
OF course!
