monday making - sue and scrappy blocks

These little sunbonnet sues came to live at my house this week.
I found just SEVEN blocks at a local garage sale.

After laying them out on the floor...I decided I needed ONE more!
I wanted to make the NEW block as close to the originals as possible.
I added a little HOW TO on my youtube channel. 😊

Next up I need to figure out an alternate block
and make a QUILT!!

I also played around with this block.

It's called Crossroads and I sure do like the scrappy version.

The TWO color version is nice too.

Such a simple little block with SO MANY possibilities!!

what are YOU making this week??

  1. Cute little Sunbonnet Sues. I like the look of quarter square triangles. I've used them as just scrappy blocks and two colors with the opposing triangles the same color. Snowballs would work well too.. Lots of blocks would be a great alternate block. Good luck deciding.

  2. I have a baby quilt my grandmother made for me using the Sunbonnet Sue (and Sam) pattern. The fabrics look so similar to the ones my grandmother used! She made it in the late 50's and my mom said she remembered some of the fabric being leftovers from other clothing. 🙂

  8. I received a collection of vintage Sue blocks several years ago. I completed the quilt and then returned them to the Aunt who had gifted them to me. <3
