Monday Making

After getting my snowball quilt basted....finally.....

...I began some hand quilting this week.
Yeah!!!

Getting all those ugly basting stitches in
takes time...
but it is SO worth it!

I am using Perle cotton....
And hoping to add another color or two as I go.
One snowball at a time!

I posted about basting and quilting this quilt on my you tube channel.

What are YOU making this week??

  2. I like the colors in your quilt. But hand quilting in the summer? EH. It's been in the 90s here for two plus weeks. I'm not getting under a quilt. Although I have one that I really want to finish one of these days....

  7. I love your snowball quilt, Beth! I'm curious about your basting method, though. When I hand quilted (only once!) I was taught to baste from the center out in straight lines, so it looked kind of like a big asterisk when the basting was done. It looks like you baste kind of like a zig zag. Can you explain how and why you do it that way?

    1. There are probably a few ways to baste a quilt. I was taught to sort of zig zag around beginning in the center. They aren't pretty stitches...but they do the job. :)
