monday making on July 4

This year I am hanging a small quilt I made LAST year.

I also finished a small zipper bag.

So simple and practical!

I love practical things.

PINK STARS quilt along - block #3

This is the the THIRD star quilt block 

For our little PINK STARS quilt along!

It is called “star variation”.

We will be making TEN different star quilt blocks.

(Making TWO of each kind)

Blocks are all 9 1/2” UNfinished

(9” finished blocks)

I am posting info on blocks EACH week on YOUTUBE and the BLOG.

Here’s little sample of what your quilt might look like!

Star variation INFO -

(Photo #1)

ONE - 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” square - mustard

TWO - 4” x 4” squares - mustard

TWO - 4” x 4” squares - background fabric

FOUR - 4” x 4” squares - pink

Make half square triangles using all 4” squares...

Putting them in pairs like photo #1.

Trim all half square triangles to 3 1/2” x 3 1/2”

Arrange as shown.....

And sew it all together!

Monday Making - a favorite quilt

I finished a quilt this week!!

Quilts sometimes take a LONG time.

This one started in 2019.

Amazing.

First there were the blocks....

Then the appliqué border....

Then the quilt sandwich.....

Then...

ALL those hand quilted stitches!!!

Finally the binding!

It took me forever to decide on a binding!

Well.

I DO love this quilt!

It will be a favorite of mine for a LONG time!

Pink Stars quilt along - block #2- swamp angel

Here is the second quilt block in my little 

PINK STARS quilt along!!

(first star is here)

It is a sampler quilt with 10 different stars...

But there are TWO blocks made of each pattern.

This block is called SWAMP ANGEL.

In this block I added bit of blue.

If you are quilting along with me you’ll need TWO of these blocks.

 

Background fabric - One 3 1/2” Square

Pink #1 - two - 4” squares

Blue - two - 4” squares

Pink #2 - two - 4 3/4” squares

Background - two - 4 3/4” squares

Using 4” squares - make FOUR half square triangles.

Using 4 3/4” squares - make FOUR hour glass squares

Sew together.

Voila!

Monday making -stars and a harvest

I tried a little change in colors

With my latest quilt along block.

Red white and blue with a little yellow!

It is so fun to play with scraps!

I’m also harvesting....

And COOKING!!

(I just added chicken sausages to ALL those vegetables!)

What are YOU making?

Easy bag

I made a new bag!

Using up some old jeans and an old belt.

And...

I lined it with some fun patchwork fabric!

I used 15 - 6” squares of denim.

One - 36” section of a belt

And about 1/2 yd fabric for the lining.

After decorating the squares with machine stitched lines....

I put it all together.

This is the simplest kind of bag.

NO zippers 

NO pockets

NO fuss

Pink STARS quilt along

I am beginning a little quilt along today....

Pink STARS!!

It is a sampler type quilt.

10 different stars.....

But there are TWO of each pattern.

20 blocks total.

I will share ONE block pattern each week on my YOUTUBE channel.

Here it is WITHOUT sashing or borders.

And here it is with 3” sashing, cornerstones and border.

Quilt with borders is 57”x 69”

Blocks are 9” finished.

Fabrics are all scrappy. 😊

Mostly PINK with some tans, browns....

And a tiny bit of blue.

Fabric requirements for quilt with sashing:

Background - 3 1/8 yds

Scrappy pinks, browns and blue - 3 1/2 yds.

I am using my stash as much as possible....

But I AM dreaming about adding a few new 

Reproduction fabrics to my quilt!!!

VARIABLE STAR - 9” finished size

Make TWO

*************

Background fabric - four - 3 1/2” squares

One - 4 3/4” square

Light pink - 3 1/2” square

Dark pink -  4 3/4” square

med. pink - 4 3/4” square

          Tan - 4 3/4” square

Cut 4 3/4” squares diagonally twice into FOUR triangles.

Arrange triangles into Quarter Square triangles

And sew together.

Make FOUR

Trim to 3 1/2”

Sew your block together!
