Monday Making

I have been USING up scraps over here.
Practical projects include Potholders

Mug rugs.

Instead of cleaning UP after making a quilt...
It's more FUN to sew the leftovers together
and MAKE something useful!!!

What are YOU making??

Link up and share.

  1. A great way to keep the scraps in check and make a few fun gifts in the process.

  2. I love Pot holders - they are so fun for gifts too

  3. That's a great idea for a way to use up project leftovers. Mine tend to sit around in a box for ages before I do anything with them.

  4. So Beth, do you have to use anything special for your batting with the potholders, like Insulbright or whatever that stuff is called, or just regular cotton batting scraps? I'm thinking of having my beginner quilting students make something that size so I can teach them how to do the binding even if their class quilt isn't far enough along by the end of class.

    1. I use old towels (clean, of course) as my batting for potholders. I have a tutorial listed called "little quilty gift".
      Good luck!

  5. Nice job of using up scraps. Mine seem to multiply like bunnies. Until I'm highly motivated to use small scraps or throw them away (OH NO!) many are in a box or bag. Other pieces have been cut into strips and squares and actually get used every once in a while. Don't when I'll do another really scrappy project to TRY to make a dent in the colors.

  6. I love the blog post, and you helped me make such a fun card with it!

  7. Your potholders always make me smile! Must make a few someday. I'm sure they are fun to use!

  8. My husband peeked into my sewing room yesterday and asked what I was up to. I replied cleaning my sewing room. He said looks like you're sewing. I said if I sew really fast I can finish all these projects and clean up my sewing room. I was thinking of pot holders too!
