I'm not a Crewel Embroidery expert.
I don't know how to get the KINKS out of the linen background after it's done.

I probably didn't use the right kind of yarn.
and...
I didn't follow the color diagram
OR
the stitching diagram.
I DID my OWN thing...
and that's what was SO MUCH FUN!!!
With a $1 price tag...
I figure it was a GREAT entertainment VALUE!!
It gave me hours of happy work.
Now...
to get a NICE backing and finish this PILLOW!!
I'll be wondering as I sew...
"Should I KEEP it???
Or give it away????"

ReplyDeleteOh, it turned out so pretty - you made it it your own. I haven;t done crewel in a long time, but I believe we spritzed with water (backside) and then blocked it out like you do a sweater/lace/shawl. You could search the internet for suggestions.

ReplyDeleteI love the crewel. When used to it I put the work front side down on a thick, folded towel and gently steam pressed it. That should take some or all of the fullness away.
ReplyDeleteLovely, like the colors you selected. My mother would roll up her work in a damp towel for 2-4 hours, then lightly stretch in a "square" and pin around the outside edge to dry flat.
