Sad quilt

This quilt was a sad one to make.
It's going to my young nephew's girlfriend.
He lost his life suddenly last month
and she's grieving.

Quilting gets you closer than you want
to sadness sometimes.
But...
you know what??
It was also GOOD
having something I could DO!!!

Frequently..
when sad things happen....
You want to DO something...
And....
there's NOT much that will really help.

IT was very hard getting this CLOSE
to the loss of my nephew by making this quilt.

But I'm glad I had the opportunity
to GIVE
a small bit of comfort....
Because I know how
to MAKE a quilt!!!

  2. Those are always the toughest to make, but it is almost like a constant prayer for them when you are in the process. She will treaure it forever and will, hopefully, someday be able to remember the good times with fewer tears.

  12. I'm so sorry for the loss of your nephew Beth. I'm making a memory quilt for the widow of a young man now. It's hard cutting up his clothes but I know these girls will gain comfort from the quilts. Our part might help.

  14. It must have been very painful planning and putting the quilt together. It is as you say a small consolation but will be a solace to the girlfriend.
My heart goes out to all.
