I started putting 2" squares together here....
But...
It seems like it was FOREVER ago.
This quilt is FULL of my scraps...
It's also FULL of blogland LOVE.
Some of you sent me little 2" squares to include
and I was able to use ALMOSt ALL of them!
I takes a LOT of 2 inches to make a queen sized quilt..
Let me TELL you!!!
I had to go out and BUY fabric for the backing!
I've been trying sooo hard to stay away from NEW fabric.
It's WAY too tempting.
You can see I had trouble making up my MIND about which fabric I liked BEST.
;)
Can you see the lines of quilting???
No puckers!!! Woo Hoo!!!
I DO need to hand stitch the binding down....
but I KNOW when that's done I'll be
SLEEPING under it IMMediately.
Hence....no more posts.
I've had a few CELEBRATIONS with this quilt.
The day I had it ALL pieced.
The day I finished quilting it...
and TODAY
I'm celebrating with an APPLE dessert.
MMmmm....
1 can of apple pie filling.
6 or so green apples - peeled and sliced.
Put these in a 9x13
Sprinkle box of yellow cake mix over the apples.
Melt 1 1/2 Cubes of butter (3/4 Cup)
Drizzle over the dry cake mix.
Sprinkle with nuts (I used sliced almonds)
Bake 350 degrees for 45 min.
Enjoy!!!
great finish. I like the white diagonals. I've made several quilts from two inch squares and I know exactly how much piecing that is. congrats!
ReplyDeleteOh Beth, my mouth is watering just looking at those granny smith apples! I'm sure your dessert was delicious - but not as delicious as Finishing an Awesome Quilt! Well done, it's lovely!

And each post inspired to make and reminded me that I wanted to make a postage stamp quilt. Only I'm thinking of making one with larger squares, like maybe 2 1/2" squares. haha.

I've been inspired to make a scrappy quilt, it will be in 10 inch (ish) blocks and I want to try different blocks with the odds and ends that don't really go together - I know it will be warm and cosy when it's done.

ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing quilt. Have you counted the number of squares, and are they 2" finished size? You def have stick-to-itive-ness.
ReplyDeleteI'm working with 1.5" squares right now, but they are pieced into a block with lots of white. I am wondering if you sewed the squares into grids before assembly?

Amazing scrappy beauty! How could you post too much about that quilt. Really lovely, and a fun back, too.
ReplyDeleteYour recipe reminds me of one I have called "Dump Cake." It's done the same way with cake mix and butter, but instead of large amounts of apples, it calls for cherry pie filling and a can of crushed pineapple. If you try it, lemme know if you like it.
