Every month there are quilt kits to take home and
work on for local charities.
This guild has given over 200 quilts to these
charities each year...isn't that amazing?
In fact, last week at the meeting we had the
volunteer coordinator from the local veteran's hospital
tell us how the quilts they receive are making a
difference there! It was very inspiring!
It was full of fun, happy fabric.
Little did I know that during that evening my
cousin who is battling cancer was admitted to the hospital.
After visiting her and praying for her I had a quilt to make.
And you know what?
This quilt was so helpful to ME!!
Here I was thinking I was going to help someone else by making it!
Hi Beth, my best wishes to your cousin for her recovery. I think you hit the nail on the head: acts of charity often bring us as much comfort and connection as they do to the recipients. Your quilt is very cute and I'm sure it will bring the same joy to whomever receives it.
ReplyDeleteBeth, you are so right! Hope your cousin is doing well.
ReplyDeleteYes when we think of others our problems seem to dim. Fun fabric you have there. Hope things are going well for your cousin.
ReplyDeleteYour tree and leaf quilt is beautiful.
Hi Beth,
ReplyDeleteYour post was straight from the heart. It's wonderful to feel you're able to help and contribute isnt it? I think more and more people are looking at ways to do that. That's the kind of world I want to live in!
I hope your cousin is doing well.
Hope your cousin is doing better soon. The quilt fabrics are wonderful - full of happiness and sunshine. No wonder you felt better for working with them and creating something great to pass on to someone in need :)
