Another week...

Another table mat!

Isn't this one sweet?

And it somehow ended up getting finished

the week of VALENTINES day!

How did that happen???

I made a similar table mat last year.

This year I made the hearts SCRAPPY.

The best kinds of quilts are filled with lots of SCRAPS!

right?

I also finished a toddler sweater.

This has been sitting in the TO DO pile for quite a while now.

ALL the pieces were done.

They just needed to be joined together and then...

The ribbing around neck and front button bands had to happen.

Just like quilts

Knitting has it's STAGES.

Sometimes the stage gets placed on PAUSE!

I'm always excited to finish projects.

That means I can DREAM and PLAN for the NEXT ONE!!!!

That's what I'm doing this week.

One Block Wednesday quilt along going on now.

The black and white scraps are very striking!

This week I hope to begin another table mat.

My goal is TEN!

Maybe I'll try a Heart theme.....

SO many OPTIONS!

If you remember THIS QUILT ......

you'll know where I got the idea and SOME of the scraps for my latest table mat.

I added a few more squares in the borders to make it big enough.

The red and green combo is one of my very favorites!

Maybe I'll bid on this one too!

I have completed FIVE table mats for the upcoming retreat.

FIVE more to go!

I also finished a knit toddler sweater this week!

woohoo!!!

The pattern is called "diamond and bobble".

I imagine so many color combos

and KNOW I have plenty of yarn here to make quite a FEW!

If only there was TIME to make 

ALL we IMAGINE!!!

I am making table mats these days.

Small little quilts.

Hopefully there will be 10 of them when April arrives.

:)

I make these every year for a women's retreat I attend.

They grace the dining room tables and the retreat goers bid on them.

So far, I have been able to use orphan blocks

in constructing them.

The orphans give me a jumping OFF place.

They get my creative juices going.

I DO love giving LIFE to these old blocks.

Leftovers from projects.....

Or maybe they were rejects.

They're BEAUTIFUL in MY book!

It gives me great satisfaction making something out of

"nothing".

This one even got the ROYAL TREATMENT.......hand quilting!!!!

It's been a very GOOD quilty week.

:)

I made the first of TEN table mats

for a spring retreat auction.

I used four orphan star blocks and added the four patches

to separate them.

I love the scrappy FEEL of it.

I also brought this old vintage quilt home with me.

No one else at the guild meeting seemed interested.

Am I the only one that loves quirky simple quilts?

This one has that MAKE DO quality I adore.

Oooh! I love the exquisite handmade beauties too!

Then...

I finished this quilt top!

Yep.

It was a very GOOD quilty kind of week.

This is what I want to do this week.

Sit down.

Thread a needle...

And get ALL the leaves on this quilt!

Some are appliqued on.

Some are still flopping around under pins.

The kids go back to school tomorrow

so....

Call me Ms. Thrifty

My family will tell you my frugality is pretty extreme sometimes.

My thriftiness can be laughable.

I wash and reuse plastic bags.

Of course I do!

I clean and save all the glass jars...

It's getting crowded on that shelf!

I save plastic containers from fast food

to fill with homemade food when delivering to sick friends.

Why throw away perfectly good containers???

Plus....the friends don't then have to return MY pans.  :)

My daughter caught me reusing a piece of painters tape

with the word Spaghetti written on it to attach something else!!!

They ALL got a big laugh out of that one!

I try to reuse, repurpose, recycle as much as I can.

This little bag is an example.

I took my old zipper bag....

The one that holds the small essentials in my purse.

It was the PERFECT size.

The zipper still zipped!

But...

The bag itself needed an update.

Instead of making a NEW bag....

I covered the OLD!!!

Yes. I did.

Why make a new one when the old one was so perfect

in so many ways??

That zipper needed to keep zipping!
