plans change.

I sent out a BUNCH of little tiny houses today...;)
then....
I got to work.
What was I going to make with MY little house???

First thought:
Good thought:
PINCUSHION!!!
Yes!!
That's what I'll make with my little house.
I'll be able to use it frequently and remember
my great neighbors.

We all know plans change.
As I was digging around...
Looking for the perfect fabric I found...
The perfect orphan blocks
AND
the perfect NUMBER of orphan blocks!!
I couldn't have planned it better!
They were someone else's cast offs
that I enjoyed sewing together a few months ago.
Then they sat.....wondering where they'd end up!
They didn't have to wait too...too....long.
Who knew they were waiting for a little house to join them????

The seams don't all match up,
and the points aren't ALL there....
But, you won't tell...and neither will I!!!
That's what good neighbors do!

Friends.

Thursday morning often finds me in the company of friends.
Creative friends.
Isn't Linda's hand quilting beautiful??
Friends that know how to make sweet gifts, like Jenn.
Bibs and little blankets for the babies to love.
Aren't those little ribbons perfect???
Ellen knitting and some discussions about recipes!!
The perfect kind of morning.
I DO love my Thursday mornings!!!
The only requirement for ME is that I clean the house!!
That's one of the blessings of having company.
The house gets tidied up!!!
Sometimes a little less than other times. :/

There are also the friends that can't come over on Thursday mornings.
It would take WAY too long!!
Like Nina from Norway!
I was so happy to receive this today!!!
I'd seen it on her blog...admired it....then I got to hold it!!!
WOW!!!
And you know what???
I now have the PERFECT number of houses to send out to the winners!
:)
I also have JUST the right amount of these little houses!

YEAH!!!
Everyone gets to play along!
I'm OFF to the post office!!!!

waves

I've been quilting waves.
Around and around they go.
More ocean theme on the back!!
This quilt was free.
Yes. Free.
Everything came out of the stash....
That explains the pieced backing.
Plus a good portion of the ocean themed front
came from a fellow blogger last year!
Thank you Mama Pea.
I'm always so happy to be able to use what I have!!!

You can see the waves a little bit better here, I think.
Does it make you want to hear the ocean??
It does me.
I love the sound of the waves!!
Oooh! Wouldn't it be fun to add sound to quilts???
Hmmm...wonder how we could work that out?

Endings and Beginnings

I'm coming to the end of this quilt.
Finally.
It's been waiting for me to quilt it and I've finally decided
where it's going!!!
I've decided to send it to Victoria's Basics Quilt gather.
I figured giving this one away would be a great way to BEGIN my year.
A few pins and some quilting swirls....
then I can pop it into one of those handy dandy
priority boxes...don't you love those things?
I've used one of them almost every week....
sending little things to my daughter who's away at school.

The fabric in those two black blocks is my favorite in this quilt.
They look kind of retro....
and I love the way they fit in with the ocean theme!
It was in my stash....
came from who knows where....
But to me...
It's wonderful!!
OOPS!
Looks like I'm at the end of this roll of batting too!!
Maybe a trip to the fabric store is in my future!
;)

And...
Here's my beginning.
This quilt has been on my mind for a long time now.
I've been collecting fabric over the past year and thinking....
about patterns....
about designs...
What would be the BEST pattern/design to use???
I NEVER came up with a great answer.
A lightbulb never went off.
And you know what??
I want to make a quilt!!
Soooo...
I'm just beginning a simple Disappearing 9 patch.
Oh Good.
I don't have to "stew about it" any more.
Now.... I just get to sew....

Happy New Year!

Sometimes it's the little things in life that make me so happy.
Like...
My dining room being totally clear of anything because...
We just had new windows installed and the furniture had to be removed!

I didn't plan all that open space....
But...
I was sure happy to have it today!!!
In a couple of days These houses will be on their way to their new homes.

I'll wait...
just in case we have some stragglers.
;)

And...
Here's the last couple of bee blocks for the year.
Christmas trees for Tammy.

I'm hoping that 2011 brings a lot more quilting adventures!!
I love adventure!
Especially when it involves a needle and thread!!!
And fabric...of course!
