Just for fun

Improvisational Quilt:
many scraps.
crazy colors.
lots of LINES.

After making a VERY large log cabin block...
I cut it into four pieces...
and
added some extra strips.
(should have taken a BEFORE photo
BEFORE cutting the large block up.)
;)

Happy quilting!

  1. Wow! I love this!! It's very interesting to look at. The dark narrow strips keep my eyes moving around, then they rest on the pinks and blues. A very happy piece. What will you do with it? How about a center for a Gwen Marston style medallion quilt?

  7. Looks like you had a good time doing this and your end result has more energy and interest than where you started. Thanks for sharing it on AHIQ.

  8. Beth this is such a cool way to make an improv quilt! The finished top is much more exciting than when it was a giant log cabin. Love it!

  10. Great idea and results, I need to give that a try. I have four big log cabin blocks that I intended to play with but taking that first step is a little scary. You have inspired me. I'll be sure to take photos of the process like you did, brilliant!

  12. What a fun way to use up scraps. It would be fun to make a bunch and see how all the resulting blocks look when put back together....kind of like making those 4 patch posies.

  13. That's really dynamic! What a fun quilt! I'm especially fond of those thin, plain bright green stripes...
