shopping

My quilting hobby has sort of "taken over".
You know...it creeps in at every turn!
Even the lowly re-usable shopping bag has not
been left out!
Have we all made one or two or three shopping bags...
just because we like to sew?

I made a bunch of covers to attach to some
UGLY bags that were a deal!
I wanted to cover the awful picture that was
printed on them.
I will attach the pictures with a Large running stitch
around the outside edge.
It will fray a little, but that's o.k. with me.
The first picture is the only one that is
finished with that running stitch.
I cut some rectangles for the background
of my little "stitch-doodled" pictures.
supplies:
buttons
yo yos
embroidery floss
and steam a seam for the pots

Appliqued some pots on a couple of them.
Added some buttons and yoyos!

No yo yo maker for me.
Just a 4" square.
I have a big box of those...remember?!

fold in half twice.

trim the corner off with a curve.

A circle.
This circle doesn't have to be perfect!

Stitch the edge over.
oooh....bad picture!

that's a little better.

Pull that thread tight and tie a knot.
Viola!
A yo yo!

Applique that down.
stitch-doodle yourself a little picture!
Then...

Go forth and shop!

  1. Cute, cute, cute. And what an improvement for the bags! That material showed in making the yo-yo is old! How do I know? Because I have some just like it!

  2. Thanks for stopping by! This is just adorable and probably about what I will end up with in twelve months. I commend you for not using a yo-yo maker ~ you're brave ;) I am OCD and have a maker in every size (lol).

  4. Very cute bags--and I recognize that calico you used for the yo-yo. I used to have a bunch of that fabric, and I used up every last bit. Those old calicoes are so charming.

  8. Great work! You made something so ordinary into works of art. Shopping will never be the same again.

  9. You probably get asked this all the time, but have you thought of opening your own Etsy shop?
