A Finish and a First

One Baby quilt Finished.
Hand quilted.
;)

The FIRST quilt for my new granddaughter-to-be!
Don't you like those scallops??
Me too.

I used embroidery floss to quilt.
It's a light green.
Mmmm.
So pretty.
This is what I used to wash away the pencil lines.
It worked like a charm.
You only need a TINY, tiny bit.
1 Tablespoon???
I guessed.

The baby shower is coming up!
The baby's birth is coming up!!!
I made it ...Just...in time!!!!

Baby Boom

I told you my circle of friends and relatives decided to have a
BABY BOOM!
Here's another gift....
Winging it's way to the new mommy and daddy!

I just LOVE making baby quilts!
Don't you?

I had some backing fabric I liked....
but not QUITE enough.
A pieced section solved my problem.

This fabric is so soft and sweet.
You can maybe see my simple quilting lines too.
Just followed along next to the blocks....
No marking necessary.....
EXCEPT for the white borders!!
For those I used a ruler and bamboo skewer.
Don't you have bamboo skewers in your sewing room????
LOL!!  :0
I DREW a line with the skewer that left
a DENT in the fabric.
I had to draw the line JUST before sewing.
It was pretty easy to see...
so I followed that as I sewed across that 4" border.
:)
There is a tool that's sold...
can't remember the name of it...
but it also makes an indentation in the fabric
that you can follow.
THAT's what gave me the idea.

Hey!
Whatever works!!!!

computer sleeve

I interupted my quilting "MoJo" today
and made a computer sleeve.

This is a project I should have done a while ago....
But I DIDN't.
Do you ever
DRAG your feet?

I made one for my daughter a year or two ago...
and her friend wanted one too.
Hey!
Isn't it NICE when the kids like what you make??
That doesn't always happen!!!

I used some hair bands for the button clasp.
Tricky......huh?
Aaah!
You probably already knew that trick!!!

O.K.
I'm done with another fun project on my to do list!
Only 20 million more to go!
:)

Shaded four patch

Here's the nice soft quilt I'm plugging away on.
There is NO color contrast here....
Just soft, soothing comfort and
a mellow mood.

I'm kind of in the mood for mellow.
Life just gets TOO crazy sometimes!!
:/

I did some googling research on
the shaded four patch...
and decided to make my own version.

Three squares.
5", 3", 2 1/2"

Cut the 5" and 3" in half diagonally.

Here's the layout.

Sew the top three together.

Add the bottom.

TRIM!!!
I like to trim instead of stressing about seam allowances
as I'm piecing. ;)

Trim to 4 1/2"x 4 1/2"

You'll have a leftover triangle.

This is the way I pieced four blocks together.
There are SO MANY ways to do this!!!
Have fun!
Change it!

I love the soft look.
Shabby chic?
The Perfect comfort quilt.

By the way...
In making this quilt I'm DIGGING!!
Going through my 3" and 2 1/2" square bags!
Pulling some soft colors.
YEAH! for using UP those pre-cut scraps!!!

No One will know

No one's going to know the ugliness this quilt holds!
Oh, they might...

If they look real close!

My all time LEAST favorite fabric....

And another....
all time LEAST favorite!!!!

If they look REAL close they might see a cleat.

Or part of a football helmet.

This is the LAST remnant of a quilt I made a few years ago.
Remember when you made quilts for EVERY occassion....
No matter how big or small???

Well...I bet I can top your occassion!!!
This quilt was made at the end of flag football season
for the Coach.
Yeah.....
A coach's gift.

I bet he laughs every time he tells his friends
the CRAZY coach's gift he received one year.
:0

Those pieces of fabric might be ugly to me....
but....
I sure like the way the little pieces look in HERE!!!!

One week.

For one week...
I looked at beauty.

Alaskan BEAUTY!!

Such a well-tended garden!

I also ate the BEST seafood chowder EVER!!
I'm going to start looking for a RECIPE!!!
I want to eat this every day!

This guy was sooo cute!!!

I saw more green than I've ever seen!
GREEN!!!
GREEN!!!
GREEN!!!

I camped a little with my daughter.

And went to a few quilt shops.

You know you're a REAL quilter...
when .....
You go to quilt shops even on
NON-quilting Vacations!!
;)
That's what I thought, anyway.

I needed some more fabric for my joseph's coat.
 I was so happy...
why??....
It means I'm making progress!!!
;)

Had to buy some UNnecessary fabric....

Plus...
some more UNnecessary fabric.

Oooooh! and I read.
What a good book!!!
Now...

Back to my sewing machine!!!
I've missed her humming along!
I also missed the first ripe tomatoes!
AND......

I missed this.
Can you believe he painted while I was gone??
My HERO!!
