a flower garden

This is another of my unfinished quilts waiting for an occassion for a quilted gift...or maybe I'll keep this one. All the blocks are ready to go. Maybe I'll add a white border with some applique. I'm still thinking about it.

This is a pattern I got from the Moda Bake Shop. I like to see what's happening there! This pattern appeared way back in May. Sheri Howard designed this with 30's fabrics and her squares strips were only 1 1/2". I'm afraid of 1 1/2" strips. AND I knew if the squares strips were a little bigger = the Quilt would be bigger...right?

My squares strips are 2". Not much of difference, huh? But, a big difference in ease of construction. I had SO much trouble with my measurements. LOL!
If you happen to change the square strip size like I did...be sure and change the other cutting directions.
instead of 1 1/2", 3 1/2", and 5 1/2"
you will cut: 2", 5" and 8".
The blocks grew to be 11" square.

i'm so brain dead...didn't even remember they were strips! AND it wasn't that long ago I made these! The GOOD thing is...I learned how to do those fancy strike outs!

  1. That will be a fun quilt....that is the glory in quilting, you can make it your own! I think most quilts are a "jump off" of some other quilt, or something we see! 1 1/2" sqares are not actual squres...but strips..straight seams! Thanks for the post about Moda Bake Shop!
